The ethos of the Indigenous cultures around the world is one that rings true for Lucy. They recognise the relationship they have with their environment as being sacred and acknowledge it as being intrinsic to their physical and spiritual wellbeing .They revere and honour the natural world. They celebrate and honour this connection through their artistic works.
Through her work Lucy rediscovers and reawakens her own indigenous Irish heritage. Her interest in healing and connecting with inner wisdom, lead her to train in Reiki Healing, Transpersonal Studies and Herbalism all of which greatly enrich and inform her work.
Lucy incorporates a variety of natural materials with ceramics. The presence and natural beauty of feathers, metals, bone, wood and semi precious stones in her work, speak for themselves. It is not only their natural beauty as gems and crystals that make them attractive adornments, but the powerful properties they hold when used in healing. Incorporating stones imbue objects with a sense of power and protection. Embellishing objects with precious stones and metals is common practice throughout the world, with some of the most beautiful examples to be found in Irelands old metalworking treasures.
Lucys work is imbued with personal experience and is continuously evolving mirroring her own personal journey in life.
